At The Academy @ Southern
Interiors, Goldie teaches beginners–
and professionals
looking
to hone their skills–all aspects of
interior design, from soft good
fabrication to interior staging.
- WT 102 Introduction to Drapery Fabrication
Class max 4
This intensive course covers the basic tools, equipment and professional workroom
secrets needed to construct your own custom drapery panels. This class provides
each student with hands on step-by-step training on the fundamentals of building
rod-pocket and pinch-pleated drapes. Students learn a variety of pinch-pleat
styles, including French, Euro, inverted pleat and goblet. The proper techniques
of interlining are also covered.
- WT 103 Top Treatment Fundamentals

Class max 4
This exciting class will cover the fundamentals of a variety of popular top
treatments for constructing rod-pocket, tab and box-pleated valances. Students
will also learn to construct and upholster a simple cornice board. Students will
learn to select the proper materials and supplies as well as how to construct
and apply welt cord and other trims.
- WT 201 The Project Class

This fun, fast-pace class was designed for advanced sewers that have a strong
drive to get a sewing project completed. During this six-week session, each student
picks a window treatment project (most likely one in their own home). Each student
gets an equal amount of class time for the team to work together on his or her
specific window treatment. The goal of the Project Class is to have your individual
window treatment ready for installation by the end of the six-week session.
- WT 101 Back to the Basics
Class max 4
This fun filled, hands on course is designed for those who have a desire to learn the
creative craft of home décor sewing starting with the basics. This class will cover
the basic use of the sewing machine as well as several other useful sewing tools
Each student will be trained by a professional instructor in the proper techniques of
seaming, hemming, cutting, and reading pattern instructions. By the end of this
six week class each student should be ready to enroll in WT102.
